One of the most common procedures in dentistry is caries removal.

Caries, as the most common disease of the oral cavity, causes the decay of the tooth structure which must then be replaced with composite fillings .

If the caries is so advanced that it has reached the dental pulp ("nerve"), the tooth needs to be treated. Dental pulp is removed, root canals
are cleaned and disinfected  and filled with biocompatible material.
